Getting started

tradroom is invite-only: you join when a tutor or organisation invites you, so there's no public sign-up. This page takes you from your invitation email to signed in, one step at a time.

What you need

  • A phone, tablet, laptop or computer.
  • An up-to-date web browser: Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox all work.
  • The email address your tutor or organisation has for you.

Good to know: You don't need to download or install anything. tradroom is a website you sign in to, like online banking or webmail.

1. Get your invitation

An organisation or independent tutor sends you an email invitation. Tutors invite their students; an organisation invites its admins and tutors; a child is linked to a parent/guardian, who is invited to their own portal. Open the email and tap or click the button (or link) inside it.

Can't find the email?: Check your spam or junk folder, and search your inbox for tradroom. The invite is valid for a limited time (48 hours for a student invite, 7 days for a tutor), so if it has expired, ask the person who invited you to send a new one.

2. Set up your account

The invitation link opens a short form. You'll:

  1. Enter your first name and last name.
  2. Choose a password (pick something only you know, see a note on passwords below).
  3. Submit. You're signed in automatically and land on your home screen.

3. Activate an imported account

If your details were uploaded in bulk (for example a whole branch roll), you won't have a password yet and won't get an invitation link. Instead:

  1. Go to the login page and choose Activate your account.
  2. Enter your email address to confirm which organisation you belong to.
  3. Set a password. You'll get a confirmation email. Open it to finish.

4. Sign in

After the first time, sign in at your tradroom address with your email and password. Your home screen is tailored to your role. Forgotten your password? Choose Forgot password on the login page and follow the emailed link to set a new one.

5. Add tradroom to your phone (optional)

On a phone or tablet you can add tradroom to your home screen so it opens full-screen, like an app, with its own icon. It's still the same website. This just makes it quicker to reach.

iPhone / iPad (Safari)

  1. Open tradroom in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open tradroom in Chrome.
  2. Tap the ⋮ menu (three dots, top right).
  3. Tap Add to Home screen (or Install app), then confirm.

Finding your way around

Along the bottom (on a phone) or top of the screen you'll see the tabs for your role:

  • Home: a dashboard with your key stats and what's on today.
  • Library: the notation and recordings shared with you.
  • Classes: your classes and students (staff only).
  • Calendar: class times and events.
  • News: announcements from your tutor or organisation.
  • Admin: your account and settings (change your email or password, choose which notifications and emails you get, install the app, and role tools).

Good to know: Hold more than one role on the same email, say a parent who also takes classes? A Switch viewcontrol appears in the account menu so you can move between them. See Students & guardians.

A note on passwords

Choose a password you don't use anywhere else, and don't share it. If you'd rather not remember a password at all, you can add a passkey after signing in, see Account & security.
